The standout feature of this update is a dramatic, game-changing optimization to our drawing speeds. You can now work with models featuring millions of polygons with buttery smooth, fluid rotation and selection even on entry-level machines - we’ve measured the speed increase at roughly 100 times (or 10,000%) faster than the previous versions of Silo!
Alongside this performance leap, we’ve added full support for the glTF file format (both binary .glb and human-readable ASCII .gltf). To make working with these files seamless, Silo automatically extracts any embedded textures from .glb files into a convenient neighboring folder when you open them, perfectly preparing your assets for export to other apps.
We’ve also now given you a quick way to restore quads from triangulated meshes (especially since glTF files are all tris). To solve this, we’ve introduced the speedy new De-triangulate function in the Modify menu. With just a single click, Silo's intelligent algorithm will detect the optimal layout and magically convert those dense triangles back into clean quads.
