Silo 2026.1 is available now with a massive 100x speed boost, glTF support, and more!
News & Announcements / June 2nd, 2026     A+ | a-

We are thrilled to announce the release of Silo 2026.1, a major update that brings features long-time Silo users have been wanting for years!

This version delivers an absolutely MASSIVE increase to viewport drawing speeds (100X), comprehensive glTF/glb file support, and a highly-requested tool to instantly convert triangulated meshes to quads.

The standout feature of this update is a dramatic, game-changing optimization to our drawing speeds. You can now work with models featuring millions of polygons with buttery smooth, fluid rotation and selection even on entry-level machines - we’ve measured the speed increase at roughly 100 times (or 10,000%) faster than the previous versions of Silo!

Alongside this performance leap, we’ve added full support for the glTF file format (both binary .glb and human-readable ASCII .gltf). To make working with these files seamless, Silo automatically extracts any embedded textures from .glb files into a convenient neighboring folder when you open them, perfectly preparing your assets for export to other apps.

We’ve also now given you a quick way to restore quads from triangulated meshes (especially since glTF files are all tris). To solve this, we’ve introduced the speedy new De-triangulate function in the Modify menu. With just a single click, Silo's intelligent algorithm will detect the optimal layout and magically convert those dense triangles back into clean quads.

This update is FREE for all users who purchased Silo from nevercenter.com within the last year; simply download the new version from the Silo & Milo webpage. If you need to purchase an upgrade to your license, want to check if you need to, or generally check on the details of your license, you can do so at nevercenter.com/upgrade.

Download the update, throw your heaviest high-poly models at it, and let us know what you think! As always, we love to hear from you—send us an email at silo@nevercenter.com, or reach out via Facebook, X, Instagram, or YouTube. And now, also join us on the Silo User Forms on Discord! We want to hear your thoughts so we can keep updating with your requests, and we love to see what you are creating!

Best,
